SESSION LXXXVI
ABOUT THIS SESSION
SESSION 86 of the trial of Adolf Eichmann took place in the morning of Wednesday, July 5, 1961. This session begins with the conclusion of the submission into evidence of written testimony by witnesses abroad, a process that began in SESSION 85. Eichmann’s defense counsel, Dr. Robert Servatius, opens the session by commenting on some of the excerpts submitted into evidence in SESSION 85 from the testimony of Kurt Becher. Servatius then resumes his direct examination of Eichmann, a process that began in SESSION 75. Topics discussed include Eichmann’s actions in regard to the Jews of Hungary (continuing from SESSION 84) and his negotiations with Joel Brand (who testified in SESSIONS 56, 57 & 59).
The majority of the footage from SESSION 86 has been lost. The approximately seventy minutes of surviving footage is presented here. One section (at 9:26) survives only via a contemporaneous news broadcast and contains watermarks, edits made by the broadcaster and a spoken English translation.
