SESSION XL

ABOUT THIS SESSION

SESSION 40 of the trial of Adolf Eichmann took place in the afternoon of Monday, May 15, 1961. In this session, Nuremberg Justice Michael Musmanno continues his testimony, which began in SESSION 39. After a few questions from Attorney General Gideon Hausner, Musmanno is cross-examined by Defense Counsel Dr. Robert Servatius. Servatius attempts to suggest that some of those who cited Eichmann as a key figure in the extermination program were merely trying to shift the blame from themselves. After a lengthy cross-examination and questions from the judges, Musmanno completes his testimony and the court is adjourned.

The vast majority of the footage from SESSION 40 has been lost. The roughly 20 minutes of surviving footage are presented here.
