ABOUT THIS SESSION
SESSION 26 of the trial of Adolf Eichmann took place in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 3, 1961. Five consecutive witnesses testify: Rachel Eiga Auerbach, who testifies about spiritual life in the Warsaw Ghetto; Adolf Avraham Berman, who testifies about the children in the ghetto and holds up a pair of children’s shoes he recovered from Treblinka after the war; Baruch Duvdevani, who reads excerpts from the writings of Rabbi Kalunimus Shapiro; Rivka Kuper, who discusses the actions of the Jewish underground resistance in Krakow and life in Auschwitz; and Hela Batsheva Rufeisin, who acted as a liaison between the underground resistance in Krakow and Warsaw. The session concludes with the submission of documents into evidence by Attorney General Gideon Hausner.
More than an hour of footage from SESSION 26 survives, though Auerbakh’s testimony has been lost entirely.
